Testimonial from T.Belcher of Salmon Valley Prince George

"I'd like to say that it is refreshing to find someone as caring and honest as Nicola. Our experience with her has been nothing but positive. She spent a lot of time and effort helping us with different horse issues. It took us a couple of tries to find a suitable horse and Nicola was patient and helpful. I recommend Nicola and Prince George Equine Rescue to anyone!"

A great success story written by Linda Griffin of Prince George

Little Toke

Rescued twice-once from starvation as a colt, once from the meat auction

In 1984, I was living in Houston BC. In a field a few miles away, there were four very thin horses. As winter progressed they got thinner and thinner. When my husband found out they were for sale, he insisted we buy the two young ones. They were two Appaloosa half brothers two and three yrs old. Not quite the older, gentle kid's horses I was wanting, but we couldn't bear to leave them to starve. So we rescued them!

The next year was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work-feeding them up, vaccinating, getting Flash gelded ,healing Little Toke's quarter crack and training him to ride. Little Toke became my favorite and turned out to be an excellent trail/bush horse and good with my boys. Many times I rode him in from the fields with just a rope or binder twine around his neck. We brought him with us when we moved back to Prince George. We loved him for nine years but had to sell him in 1993. I cried for weeks.

This spring I decided to follow my heart and share my life with a horse or two and volunteer at Prince George Equine Rescue. As I drove in the first time I almost hit the ditch,. There was Little Toke in the first corral. I sat in my truck a few minutes thinking-He has to be 25, it couldn't be him. But when I finally went close I knew it was him! What a wonderful gift to have my faithful partner and friend back again! I hope we can enjoy many more years together. Even if it is only for a while, he's going to have a good life from here on.

Thank you Nicola!

Update: Linda has since moved back out to the country and now owns two rescue horses! Congrats Linda!
